News article in Liberia

As many of you may know... much can be bought in Liberia for a price. Including so called-news paper reporters who write false articles about our organization. A year ago several such slanderous articles came out in news papers in Liberia that were not true.

There was much slanderous info written that I wont get into here. I never talked about it a year ago due to standing on this one thing- (besides it being adamantly false) Our outreach work speaks for itself. It is the living Gospel in Action. And anyone who feels need to defame it or speak falsely against the many caring people involved both on this side and in Liberia, have nothing better to do.

However there are individuals out there who seem to feel the need to circulate these old articles yet again to try to discredit our outreach ministry. So I will post the statement that was published by us year ago addressing this. This was a follow up news article that was ran in the Liberia newspaper about a month or so after the first slanderous articles ran. It was even endorsed by the MOH who were falsely accused of some things by these same so called reporters as well.

We at Global Orphan Outreach realize that where good is at work, evil works to resist what is good. We all knew when we committed to this that there would be times of trial.

We continue to be committed to the advocating and reaching out of many needy families and orphans in crisis.

Who can help Samuel?

This Samuel and his son...Samuel. They have an amazing story of survival. When Samuel was 4 years old, his dad and him were running from gun fire shooting at the people in his village who were scattering everywhere. Samuel said he picked up little Samuel and started running through a field. Sadly both he and his son were shot. And sadly both lost a leg to bullet wounds. Dad Samuel lost his right leg and his son lost his left. Little Samuel was also shot in the arm that did tendon damage.

Somehow they were able to obtain medical help along the way for amputations. However as young Samuel's leg bones continue to grow, they are pushing out through the end of his skin and causing infections. Samuel needs surgery to shave his bone down. He also needs help with his tendon so that he can use his hand again. Right now the tendon is pulling on his hand, cramping it in a position that he can hardly use.

I cant begin to tell you what an amazing and inspirational story shared with us in May and how heroic his father was and how much he loves his son.

So we have been asked to get involved and find medical help for Samuel.

Let us help Samuel heal. War should not rob a child of his health and well being.

A Message From Frank G. Traub

I first heard about Global in January of this year when I was invited by a friend to accompany her to a workshop being hosted by the organization. When I returned home I immediately got in touch with Pastor Ben and told him that there was something very different about Global. As a Liberia I’ve seen the workings of humanitarian organizations in my country; and believe me when I tell you, a lot of them do not account for much. It saddens my heart to see people pushing their own agenda under the guise of helping the needy. However, with Global there was just something different. As I looked into the faces of couples present and heard them talk about my people with so much passion, I knew that these people, while not the wealthiest donors, where making the most sacrifices. I saw and talked to husbands who stayed home as their wives did what their hearts told them was right.

Fast forward to June and I’m invited to speak at a walkathon planned by Global. The objective: that people here in America (especially their children) will have an idea about how most children in Liberia walk to and from school (and many a times on empty stomachs). If I was surprised in January, I was blown out of my mind on Saturday, the 25^th. I saw kids who were so enthusiastic about what their parents were involved in. I saw families of the organizers rally around them in support. But more than that, I saw Liberian kids who had been brought over to America either for medical care or to be placed in proper homes with love and care. In any case, these kids were being given the opportunity to dream again- the opportunity to have hope in a world that they’d given up on.

My only regret was that it was held so far in Wisconsin where not many Liberians are; and I thought a lot of Liberians should have the opportunity to see what’s really being done to help us as a nation. So if there is a possibility of a program being held in Minnesota, I would gladly welcome the idea. The hearts and the motive of the people involved are too pure to not be allowed to touch and encourage others. So on behalf of the Liberian people, I say a big THANK YOU! And may God continue to bless the works of your hands!!!

Anthony is a baby boy from Liberia, West Africa that Global Orphan Outreach brought to the states recently on a medical visa to have surgery. FMN Needs You!

Thank you for all you sponsors out there for being such a huge part of our program and making such a positive impact on some precious lives!

As you know, all our funds we get every month, go directly to our program in Liberia. Over the last several months, we have had to play 'catch up' because some of our funds were not being received, or we weren't sent the full amount, increased cost in food, and quite a few kids visiting the dr. because of malaria. We have had enough funds to cover these because we have 'dipped' into our foster home rent funds.

Well now rent is due for the four apartments for the next 3 months and we have little funds for this. I am graciously and humbly asking you to please pass this on to whomever may be willing to help us out. We are in need of $1200 immediately! We have plans on the horizon for being able to continue covering all our costs with no problems, but this month is tight and we are needing your help. On top of this, we are bringing in 3 new kids this week and will be needing more sponsors.

Adorable Annah

We shared with you awhile back about a little girl named Annah and her sad story of her family and her fight with Potts disease. Annah has been getting treatment for her tb and when she completes that she has a family willing to adopt her who is helping her now.

Me sharing with Annah about the family who loves her from across the ocean. This family has experience with what Annah is dealing with as they have a relative who adopted a little boy from Liberia with the same health issue. He is doing great today.
