Varney
This is Varney and his mama. Varney has hydrocephalus. He is in much need of a shunt and urgent medical care. Varney was brought to our attention by the ministry of health and social welfare of Liberia. They asked us to become involved and see if we could obtain a medical visa for him. We said yes we would get involved. Through a few connections we discovered that Dr. Sherman who works at Firestone hospital puts shunts in for children. We were pleasantly surprised. So we contacted him and he immediately said yes to seeing Varney. He said that Dr. Bernard (president of Liberia's son) will be in Liberia the next few weeks and he would be working closely with him and Varney would be one of their cases. What amazing news. And what good timing. God works out things like this in his time. Please keep Varney in prayer as he under gos surgery.

Nye has a medical visa!
This is Nye- he has hydrocephalus and needs a shunt put in his head. We along with a few other organizations have worked diligently for 5 months to advocate and obtain him a medical visa so that he could come here for free medical care. Apparently another child was taken out of country for medical care and not returned and so that along with the controversy over adoptions caused the ministry of health and of justice to cautiously allow him to go. I met Nye in October of last year while in Liberia and he has slowly gotten sicker. It is great news (thank-you for the prayers for him) that he will receive the much needed help he deserves. Nye will return back to his foster mom who loves him dearly after he is better. We expect he will be in the states 4-6 months. Helping children with medical visa's is part of what Global Orphan Outreach does with their medical outreach project.

where did Global Orphan Outreach begin....
Global Orphan Outreach started with a vision to assist adoptive families with adoption grant writing and the proceeds to benefit starting a special needs orphanage. We were able to help many families who have adopted children into their forever families. However it took countless hours to grant write thus stretching the funds to... well... not much. So we posted all the info on our website and made ourselves available to assist them with the writing. Here are some more of the happy families who benefited from Global's help. We are honored to be a part of this process for them.
Thank you so much for applying for all the grants for us! We appreciated your service and it was WELL worth it. We are waiting to hear from a couple grants yet, and then I will complete the survey and email it to you. As of now, we've been awarded 2 grants: OATH for $100 and Katelyn's Fund for $3000.
1. We're you awarded grant funds and if so; how much? Who did you receive those grants from and what were the awards from each one? $500 from OATH
2. Did you feel G.O.O. did a good job in presenting to you the completed grant work for your signatures and was it in a timely manner? Did we meet your expectations? I did not actually see the applications as we were out of country for the adoption , but it was done in a timely manner.
3. Were you pleased with the communication between you and G.O.O.? yes
Hi everyone,
We're you awarded grant funds and if so; how much? Who did you receive those grants from and what were the awards from each one? Recently received notification from Shohannah’s Hope that we will be receiving a $3000 grant! Yeahh!!!
Did you feel G.O.O. did a good job in presenting to you the completed grant work for your signatures and was it in a timely manner? Did we meet your expectations? Yes to all of the above
Were you pleased with the communication between you and G.O.O.? Yes
Would you recommend G.O.O. to others? Yes
Do you have any suggestions or comments? None, but thank you for the service you offer! If we had not learned of GOO and had you there to do the paperwork, we would not have applied to Shohannah’s Hope or anyone else . After going thru all the paperwork for an international adoption, we were maxed out on our time and energy to sift thru more paperwork. We appreciated your reasonable cost to do the work for us. Your fees are such that even if we would not have received a grant, we would not be frustrated that we had spent a HUGE some of money for nothing.
** I used Global Orphan Outreach to help in finding grants and though I was hesitant in that I wasn’t sure I could afford to put anymore into our adoption, I must say it was well worth the fee. GOO prepared all of applications after taking in our information and sent them to us to sign and send off. The packet was so well organized, making it clear where we needed to sign and what we needed to do for each application. I sent them off and while I am still waiting to hear from some, I received two large grants that covered nearly half of our adoption. Because we accepted referrals for two medically needy children, you can imagine the medical bills that are starting to pour in. These grants for our adoption are taking quite a burden off us to be able to pay our deductibles for the medical insurance.
I would highly recommend GOO to help in finding grants for adoptive families.
In Him,
Tama
